Hiking Organizations

A New England-based trail club, probably the largest on the East Coast. They focus on New Hampshire, but have chapters up and down the East Coast. Details of their shuttle routes and info on AMC huts. Weather reports for the White Mountains, places to stay, maps and photos.

Not a backpacking site, really, but Scouting is what got me in to the outdoors in the first place. They still do a good job getting kids outside.
Potomac Appalachian Trail Club
Large trail club in the Washington, D.C. area. Good info on trails throughout the mid-Atlantic.
